So some news regarding both the Artlett and Warner branches of the family.
I had a message via GR from someone who said that Emily Caroline Artlett was in her tree and that she was the daughter of James Artlett, a bricklayer, and Charlotte Quait and was born in 1814 in Broadwater. This contradicts her marriage certificate, which states that her father was John Artlett, a sailor. I emailed Pat in Australia who is descended from the Artletts to see what she says and she responded that she had also heard from this woman and that, after some research, she had come to the conclusion that Emily’s father was indeed James. So there you have it. It apears that Emily Caroline was member of a family that can be traced back to 1522 in Worthing. Quite a thing!
As to the Warners, I managed to get them back to 1755 myself, which I am inordinately pleased about. I need to check some facts and dates in the St Alfege, Greenwich parish records, but it appears that Charles Lloyd Warner was just one of a dynasty of watermen from Greenwich. I shall upload the information once I have copied the entries in the Company of Watermen and Lightermen apprentice binding books and found some of the corrolating entries in the parish records.
All in all and good few steps forward.
