After a visit to the parents last week, I now have both Nanny B and Grandad B’s birth certificates courtesy of Auntie Barbara. His is full and I have sent off for the full of hers. Hopefully now I will finally get the names of both of Nan’s parents. Her father was called George — as was Grandad’s and this alone has allowed me to find them on the 1901 census. Unfortunately the bad habits of the census taker struck again, as her mother was listed as Lizzie E. Not very useful!
I also have their marriage certificate.
Flush with this success, I sent off for a copy of the marriage certificate for Nanny D’s parents as I am having trouble certifying which Haley is which on the census. This should sort it out.
I feel that we are moving on positively. All good stuff.
